Raakhee Mirchandani knew she had a superhero on her hands in her daughter, Satya. Whenever Mirchandani walked down the streets of Hoboken with Satya, now 4, the little girl did so with flair: “Five out of seven days a week, she’s wearing capes, crowns, Wonder Woman ensembles. That’s her thing,” says Mirchandani, the editor-in-chief of the website Moneyish. “We love the bookstore, and we’re there all the time. But one day, I noticed that there were not many books about girls having great big adventures. And once I had that thought, it was hard to unthink it.”

So she wrote a book with an audience of one in her heart. Illustrated by Tim Palin, the book is called “Super Satya Saves the Day” and features a little girl who’s ready to conquer the tallest slide in Hoboken — if only her superhero cape wasn’t stuck at the dry cleaner. The book is a playful ode to conquering obstacles and having fun at the same time.
