Raakhee Mirchandani is a longtime writer and editor who never set out to write a kids’ book. But all that changed when she was struck by the idea for her first book, Super Satya Saves the Day, out now.

Written in honor of her daughter, Satya, now 4, a pediatric cancer survivor, Mirchandani wanted to write a book that featured a main character who looked like Satya, a precocious Indian-American superhero in her own right. Parade.comsat down with Mirchandani to learn more.
